February 15 – 21, 2009
Fasching started this week here in Bavaria (aka Carnival or Mardi Gras). It’s a celebration running up to the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday. Thursday was Weiberfastnacht, a day when men should be careful what they wear, because women and girls will cut off the tie, a symbol of male power, of any man seen wearing one, leaving them with only a stump. We celebrated with a children’s party at the local Kindergarten.
