Autumn wants me to let you know that the next Books & Bagels meet up is Sunday, Feb 15th, 15.00, at Kona. Everyone should bring 1 English book to share. For more information, you can email Autumn at autumndawnediger [at] gmx [dot] de.
And now I’m going to let you all in on a secret I’ve been keeping. The Köwe Center is the best shopping center in Regensburg uberhaupt. This does not seem to be widely known, as it is fairly empty even on Saturday afternoons. It has the best Asian restaurants in Regensburg. The Chinese restaurant Jade and the Thai restaurant (run by a real chef from Thailand) are both pretty good, and I’ve heard good things about the sushi place as well. The Edeka there is my favorite supermarket in the area, but you have to be careful with the prices, as there’s some really expensive stuff there that can give you a shock at checkout if you’re like me and don’t pay attention much when shopping. For parents, there’s Toys R Us and Baby Walz, plus there are kids activities Saturday afternoons between 3pm and 5pm. There’s an Expert Reng for your electronic needs, an Ihr Platz drugstore and a Toom Baumarkt. The only thing lacking is a Douglas or Müller, but I can live with that. If you drive there, I highly recommend parking in the almost always empty parking deck behind the center, as the surface parking lot is a little crazy. You get to it by driving past the center and turning right just after it. The Köwe Center is located near the A93, exit Königswiesen. Here it is on a Google Map.

I just went back and had Tom Kha Gai again and a Bento box from the Japanese place. Both were great!
When I lived in Germany, one of the few things I could not find at all from home was bagels. I even ended up making my own once because I was so desperate to have some. Sigh.
