Nervous wreck mom

I am a little nutty right now.  Oliver is having an operation tomorrow and no matter how routine a procedure it is, I think any parent in this kind of situation is stressed.  Sure it’s routine, but any time such a little guy is put under general anesthesia, it’s a big deal in my book.

So this morning we met with all the doctors and had the intake.  They had to tell us all the little things that could go terribly wrong and you know what?  They really don’t need to share these things with worried parents.  I don’t need to know that the local anesthetic they inject into his spine could cause bleeding and permanent paralysis in exceptionally rare cases.  I don’t need to know about all the possible allergic reactions he could have, or any of the other dozen things they mentioned.  And I need to stop thinking about it right now too.  Writing this post is not helping my nerves in any way.

Okay, so keep us in your thoughts tomorrow.  Oliver and I will be staying at the hospital at least one day, and maybe more, so I probably won’t be online much this weekend.  If I think about it, I may update Twitter from my cell phone from time to time.

I am sure that you will be fine. The doctors have to tell you that stuff. Legal and health advice I guess it’s what it is called.
Don’t worry to much. You’re in my thoughts!

Oliver is a tough little guy. Chris’s urologist told us that these things are most definitely harder on the parents. Many good thoughts going your way today!

Just seeing how you are. I’m sure Oliver will be fine, it’s the momma and poppa I am worried about. Hope all is well!

I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. I’m sure all will go well, but I understand your feelings. It’s one of the scariest things a parent has to go through. Hugs to you all.

Glad to see on Twitter that everything has gone fine..phew!!!!

Our son (3 yrs old) had surgery a few months back and I had to go ballistic on the surgeon for being such an egotistical “playing god” type and causing our son undue pain because the surgeon wanted to show off in front of the anesthesiologist… I actually calculated how many years in prison I would most likely spend if I killed this doctor – and here in Germany it would have almost been worth it. But then I came to my senses… it still raises my blood pressure though!

I’m glad you guys made it through it!!!
