Vicky over at TGAW brought this to my attention this afternoon, and we’ve decided to start a meme. The Guardian has started a Flickr pool called “A message to Obama” where Flickr users are adding pictures with a personal statement to President-Elect Obama. The Guardian will then be publishing their favorites.
Here’s my message:
I think it’s time that Americans are asked to sacrifice. Let us know what WE can do for our country. No more telling us to go out and run up our credit card debt to help the economy.
So post your message to Obama on FlickR and on your blog, then let me know and I’ll put a link to your post below.

Hi there! Your message is something I have been saying for 7 years now. I understand so little about macroeconomics, though. I keep being told that people who aren’t buying on credit, but buying are the only thing that will get us out of a financial squeeze. My new president and I fundamentally disagree about the things closest to my heart, and he may not be able to do the thing that ranks #2 (see newsweek) but as I go down the list of importance, your message is right up there and I couldn’t agree more.
oh – and as always the photo is gorgeous!

@Ann: I don’t know too much about Macro-economics, but it seems to me that the economy can’t always be growing, there need to be downturns as well. I didn’t find a Newsweek article that seemed to fit though. Do you have a link?
