I guess there’s another bout of stomach flu going around, cause Casa AmiExpat all had it this weekend. I swear I don’t think I ever had stomach flu in the US, but I get it 3-4 times a year here, and whenever I tell my neighbors or the doctor, I always hear, “Oh yeah, that’s going around now.” The last time I had it, the doctor made a house call to see me (one of the awesome things about the German medical system) and said he’d been seeing people all week with stomach flu. Is Laaber just the land of stomach flu, or does anyone else see this kind of incidence?
Anyways, since in my weakened state it’s difficult to come up with ideas, and because I was tagged by Mariecel at Cosmopolites’ Kaffeeklatsch, here are seven random things about me:
- I am a very quiet and reserved person. This usually surprises readers when they meet me. It takes me a little time to warm up and get going conversationally. And you gotta know me awhile before I open up.
- It always bugs me when people don’t bother to get to know me because I don’t open up immediately. I know I shouldn’t care, if they can’t take the time to get to know me, they aren’t people I’d really want to be friends with, but it still bothers me.
- Being mixed-race means that I’m not white and I’m not Asian, but I suppose when it comes down to it, I feel just a little (just slightly) more comfortable with Asians than with Caucasians. Maybe this is cause my mom is Asian, I dunno.
- I am a garlic-holic. I regularly add two to three times the amount of garlic called for in a recipe. And I totally don’t notice that people smell when they eat garlic.
- I am super organized. Tammy calls me Type A+. I even took pictures of my shoes and taped them to the shoebox so I know what pair is inside.
- I am also an easy-going clutterbug. There are piles of clutter everywhere in our house, much to my husband’s dismay.
- Finally, I LOVE being a mommy. I never really wanted kids or saw myself with them. I was completely uncomfortable around kids, you can ask my friend Lynn. She and her daughter helped get me used to the idea, but I’ve taken to mommyhood like a duck to water. It’s pretty amazing having a kid.
I’m gonna let you guys tag yourselves on this one. Leave a comment when you do it so I can come read what you wrote!

I rarely had a stomach flu either before I moved to Germany. Now I get one about once a year. I have no idea why this would happen though.
Hmm, aren’t # 5 and 6 contradicting? I am not a very organized person, but am learning because of my job. My tendencies are just to drop stuff where-ever I am at the moment.
