A new Madame Tussauds wax figure museum opened July 5th in Berlin near the Brandenburg Gate. There was some controversy over the museum’s decision to include a wax figure of Adolf Hitler, and what do you know, the second museum patron in the door pushed guards aside, jumped over a desk, and ripped off the head of Hitler.
In other Berlin news, Barack Obama is planning a visit to the capitol later this summer, and the US Embassy on Pariser Platz has reopened, and not to the best reviews.

Sweet! I’m totally going if he speaks at the gate!
Yeah, and as he ripped off his head he shouted, ‘Nie wieder Krieg!’ (Never again War!)
I think it is a very idiotic idea to have a wax figure of Hitler in Berlin. What were they thinking?

Well, some feelings run deep. But they got some extra publicity, I suppose.

@tessa: I’d consider making a trip to Berlin for that too!
@hezamarie: The one in London is attacked a lot too, seriously, did they not think there was going to be trouble, but I guess as Swenglishexpat says, it got them publicity.
@marie: Finally an attack on Hitler that succeeded!
@swenglishexpat: Hardly seems worth the repair costs and extra guards needed, but what do I know!
Well, according to Ben: http://www.tranzformer.de/blog/?p=780
…so does this mean we’ll get to meet the little one here in Berlin? I’d happily meet him and Obama simultaneously.
I think it’s fair enough having a Hitler model here. There’s no denying his significance, after all. But then I think it’s fair enough to rip his head off too. Maybe the figure will become the Berlin equivalent of the Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen.

I heard about this and really had this urge to travel to Berlin to be the second person to tear the head off of Hitler, but then decided that would seriously endanger my unbefristet Aufenthaltstitel. Guess I’m no radical.
@BiB: I really want to come see you guys, and some of us here are talking about a road trip to see Obama, but if I don’t make it for the speech, I’m definitely coming the next time Rainer needs to go, if not sooner.
