Tomorrow I’m off to Munich and I am very much looking forward to getting acquainted with the city. I’ve been twice before, but only for a couple of hours each time, so this trip will let me get a real taste of life in another of Germany’s big cities (as far as big German cities go, I’ve only ever spent any significant amount of time in Berlin - where we lived for several years).
From what I’ve heard, this year’s Deutschland sucht den Superstar is nothing to get too excited about. I say, “From what I’ve heard,” because I’ve spent the last few hours here in our office making sure there will be plenty on offer here at AmiExpat while I’m off galavanting around in Munich. I’ve just finished preparing a post for every day that I’m away. (If they don’t show up each morning, maybe Cliff can figure out what’s going on). I don’t know if I’ll be online for the next few days, I’ll bring my laptop, but can’t guarantee that our hotel has wifi, or that I’ll feel like lugging the laptop along to a coffeehouse or something.
I also got an estimate for a tour. It’ll be 1.5-2 hours and cost 80 Euro for a group of no more than 30 people (I know the tour guide, so booking directly with him is saving us 8 Euro). With 30 people, it’ll be €2.67 each, with 20 people, €4 each. I think this is a pretty good deal (individually, booking through the city costs €8 per person). Are you Regensburg area folks interested? Would other people be interested in attending a Regensburg meetup weekend this summer?
Talk amongst yourselves, I’ll be back Friday, hopefully with some cool stories.

Enjoy Munich. It is a beautiful city. We loved it. Please don’t miss the English Gardens. Take Oliver in the stroller for a beautiful morning walk. It is breathtaking. I will never forget it. Have a great adventure. Pam
Yeah, I second that. I like to get a beer about once per year at Chinescher Turm. We definitely plan to take my in-laws there when they come visit. If the weather cooperates, it’s a nice way to spend the day strolling. Benefit: you can tie it in to a visit to the US Consulate since they’re so close or other Munich attractions using public transportation.
Speaking of that: do you have have to buy Oliver a ticket on busses or trains (of any kind)? Just curious.
Enjoy Germany and tell us all about it when you get back!
Enjoy Munich, Christina!
Oh it sounds like you are going to have a great time. I was day dreaming about being able to take a few day trips and photo hunts… Well next week that dream will finally come true.
Hi Christina,
I’m going to Augsburg on Saturday and then on to Munich on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Be sure to write all the insider tips for Munich!
