“Nothing to report today”
The major storm with hurricane force winds generally failed to appear yesterday, at least in our neck of the woods. Sarah had organized a ladies brunch meetup for the morning, but from 8-10am it was stormy (the rain was falling horizontally), and since it was supposed to be bad off and on all day, I chose to skip out. Well, the rain stopped by 11am and by 1pm there were shafts of sunlight cutting through the light cloud cover. I’m so annoyed that I missed the brunch now. But you never know, it could have been terrible, blah blah blah.
I continue dropping weight like mad. Instead of Oliver, we should have named him Jenny Craig! I tried on a pair of pants from my Rostock days and they very nearly fit; just slightly tight in the thighs. After weighing myself, I ran to Rainer and proclaimed that I’d lost another 2 pounds, putting me at 9 pounds below pre-pregnancy. Another way to look at this, is that I’ve almost lost 2 years of expat weight! What did my German say? He said, “Yeah, but it’s all coming off your butt, you’ve still got a big tummy.” Ah, German hubbies, they know just what to say, don’t they?

We got your hurricane. It was like Oz (or Kansas?) around here yesterday. Our satellite dish still hasn’t recovered.
And congrats on the weight loss! I keep saying that between Theo and the absence of an elevator in our building, who needs to join a gym?
Oliver is gorgeous, by the way.
We’re still being attacked by gale force winds here in Dresden. Fun, fun, fun
Congrats on the weight loss! Babies are a great workout…
Look at those BLUE EYES!! He is absolutely adorable!!
And I’m just jealous about the baby weight loss, because I’m still trying to lose it 18 years later!
Carol
That is one seriously gorgeous baby, what wonderful eyes…ciao
Those blue eyes are striking!
And congrats on the weight loss. I am down about 12 pounds from pre-pregnancy weight, and I think when I stop nursing, I will lose the little bit of pudge remaining on my tummy. Everything I read says that you preserve a layer of fat while nursing…especially in the tummy area.
Ah, yes. Those honest German boys. Often times, I have to think, “Okay, Ladies, I saw him first.”
Congrats! Bye, bye baby weight!
Oh yes, they DO always know what to say. I’ve taken to ignoring 85% of it and it’s working for me.
Your mini-Rainer is SO cute!
I came across your blog awhile ago and have been reading it. I’m an Ami who lives in Chemnitz, Germany. I just had a baby 6 weeks ago and your posts about having a baby in Germany came in really handy. Thanks and congrats on the weight loss!
i can only agree with everyone else. what wonderful pictures! and thank you so much for your useful tips – the vanilla is a real inspiration.
re german hubbies – i must have ordered the special non-standard version – maybe that’s why he was single when i met him
. I have enough other germans in my life, though, to know exactly how you feel.
Thanks everyone!
And re: German hubbies, there’s something special about those extra honest guys too
Those eyes are GORGEOUS.
