Open Book Meme

Swenglishexpat has tagged me for the ‘Open Book’ meme. These are the instructions:

1. Pick up the nearest book.
2. Open it at page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence/ phrase.
4. Blog the next four sentences/ phrases together with these instructions.
5. Don’t you dare dig your shelves for that very special or intellectual book.
6. Pass it forward to six friends

Like him, I’m at my desk and surrounded by reference books.  The nearest one is the Map Guide to the US Federal Censuses, 1790-1920.  On page 123 is a map of Kentucky in 1800.  There are three sentences total, so I think I’ll look for the first none reference book within reach.

‘She’s great, isn’t she?’ said Ron admiringly. ‘Always a good value.’

But the smile vanished from his face at once: Viktor Krum had dropped into Luna’s vacant seat. Hermione looked pleasureably flustered, but this time Krum had not come to compliment her.

I think I also owe him five Thinking Blogs and I owe Barbara five Rocking Girlie Blogs.  The problem I had with these is, how do I limit it to only five that I think are great?  So I’m just gonna get these out of the way and only nominate one in each category.  That way I don’t worry about people wondering why they weren’t in the top five, or have to try and figure out who has and who hasn’t been awarded yet.  Here goes:

My favorite thinking blog: Freakonomics by the guys who wrote the book.

A Rockin’ Girlie blog to check out: Bleeding Espresso by Sognatrice.  An American expat in Calabria, Italy (one of my favorite regions – I love Calabrian food).

‘Nathamuni’s Yoga Rahasya” – page 123 – “The Vedas proclaim that the place of the Prana, mind, Jivatma and the Paramatma is only one, which is the heart.”

For translation purposes:
Prana = breath/life energy
jivatma = soul
paramatma = God

A bit heavy, but it was left on the back of the couch during an evening of sleeplessness, and it sits next to me as I surf the web….

Hi Christina! Your site looks awesome! I love the colour scheme and the layout. I wish I had the knowledge to do something like this!

Way to go and I hope it brings you much joy!

Had I stretched just a little further, I would also have found a couple of Harry Potter books. :-)
