In Berlin, there was a Stammtisch organized by RFM once a month. Even though I think I only was able to attend two or three before I moved down here, I thought it was a brilliant idea and they were great fun. So this got me thinking, there are plenty of us expats here in Regensburg, why don’t we have our own monthly Stammtisch? What do you guys think? Any ideas on a good meeting place/time? One idea, what would you say to dinner the first Sunday of every month at Meier (5pm seems to be the kid-friendly, smoke-free time)? Or would just meeting up for drinks be better? Or lunch? (It seems that there are quite a few of us with kids, so I thought staying out late might not work as well, but Meier might be a little expensive for some folks, I dunno, dinners are 10-15 Euro, but seriously good). What are your thoughts???

Hey, I think that’s a pretty good idea. Once a month seems doable for a group of people. I have no clue what this Meier place is like but I’d be willing to give it a shot. And I trust your judgement
Although if this is a folks-with-kids only thing, Cliff and I wouldn’t be allowed
@sarah: It would definitely not be just a family thing. I just know a lot of expats with little kids. So I’m expecting you guys to join!
I’m just not sure about dinner now. I’m trying to think of something that isn’t so expensive… maybe coffee somewhere? But that’s in the middle of the day and might not get so many attendees because of this. Maybe Sunday brunch is better? I dunno.
great idea!! (I missed this post earlier) I think we are up for it. Do you know any more expats in Regensburg aside from the four I know??
@tammy: I’ve met at least a dozen, and I’m e-mailing with a couple more, so I think it would be a cool way for everyone to get to know each other. I also know of several Germans who might like to come and practice their English.

What a great website! I was so glad to find it! My husband and I (and our 4 year old son) have been living in Regensburg for over a year now.
Did you guys happen plan another ‘ Stammtisch’ ? We would love to come and meet some people in Regensburg! Although I can imagine everybody is just too busy with cooking, baking and traveling for the holidays! Take care, Mattie
