Live Earth is a 24-hour, 7-continent concert series taking place on 7/7/07 that will bring together more than 100 music artists and 2 billion people to trigger a global movement to solve the climate crisis.Live Earth marks the beginning of a multi-year campaign led by the Alliance for Climate Protection, The Climate Group and other international organizations to drive individuals, corporations and governments to take action to solve global warming. Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore is the Chair of the Alliance and Partner of Live Earth.
Live Earth will be kicking off in just under 15 hours from now in Sydney at 3AM CET (9PM EST). Other cities hosting concerts are New York, London, Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo, Shanghai, Johannesburg, and Hamburg.
The following artists will be playing tomorrow in Hamburg (there are apparently still tickets available, so if you’re in the area…): Shakira, Snoop Dogg, Roger Cicero, Mia, Sasha, Stefan Gwildis, Marquess, Maria Mena, Silbermond, Michael Mittermeier, Samy Deluxe, Jan Delay, Enrique Iglesias, Katie Melua, Reamonn, Lotto King Karl, Revolverheld, Mando Diao, Juli, Chris Cornell, and Yusuf (Cat Stevens).
ProSieben will be covering the concerts beginning at 17.00. At 20.15, Al Gore’s movie An Inconvenient Truth will be aired, at 22.15 is the Galileo Special on Klimafalle, and at 23.15, the Live Earth coverage continues. Christina,
I tried calculating my carbon impact, but it’s definitely written for Americans, and when I got to the question about which cars we drive I was so clueless as to which American models could possibly correspond to ours that I went back and changed my answer to “0″ cars, thus pretty much rendering my result, which was 231, useless I suppose.
Hi, thanks for reminding me of this event and those useful links.
@martina: Yeah, I wish there was a European or even German version. We’re still driving a Honda Civic (although our engine is smaller than any of the listed engines) so I could fill out the car part, but there’s no Renault options, so I don’t know how much that will be changing things for us.
@SwenglishExpat: No problem! Thanks for reading!
