All Blogged Out

Hey folks, we’ve been back since Tuesday evening, but I just haven’t been much in the mood for blogging this week. And it’s not that I don’t have things to write about, cause I have a nice post on Heidelberg with a couple Geheimtipps fully formed in my brain, I just have no desire to sit at the computer and type it up! In truth, I have no desire at the moment to sit at the computer at all. Maybe it’s the onset of Spring and nice weather, maybe it’s something going around (a couple other bloggers are taking or have taken breaks recently), but I think I need a break for a bit. So, I might be back tomorrow, or in a week, but I’ll be back!

Oh, and a little tidbit to tide you over, some kids stopped by looking for chocolate donations today. They weren’t selling chocolate, no, they wanted us to give them some. And Rainer grabbed a big bar of Belgian chocolate from my “good stuff” stash (rather than giving them something out of my Ritter Sport/Lindt stash)! He explains that on the Saturday between Good Friday and Easter, the kids who do stuff for the Catholic church (altar boys and such, I guess) come around collecting treats to share amongst themselves. He says that in Lüxem (where he grew up, near Wittlich), they run around with “clackers” first (wooden sticks that make slapping noises) and yell bible phrases every once in a while in the local dialect. The point is that the churches don’t ring their bells between Good Friday and Easter, so the kids run around making noise to tell folks when mass is.
