We’ve narrowed down our choices for last vacation as two. We’re thinking end of April/beginning of May. I’ve never been to any of these places and can’t make up my mind. What do you think?
(1) 4 day/3 night wellness vacation to Karlsbad, Czech Republic – but I can’t do all the wellness stuff (no massage, wraps, hot tubs, etc – facials & warm baths are okay)
(2) 4 day/3 night sightseeing in Salzburg, Austria
(3) Long weekend in Barcelona, Spain
(4) Week in the Canary Islands, Spain

from what i remember about karlsbad, it is very pretty. even if you can’t do all the wellness stuff, it’s still a very pretty location.
i’ve never been to any of the other three places, so i can’t comment on them.
in any case, i am sure you will enjoy your last hols as two.
1. would perhaps be better to go when you can do all the stuff?
2. do you feel like running around being touristy?
3. the spanish culture is very positive and open towards children, so i propose postponing barcelona until after the little one arrives. (although barcelona is a great city to visit regardless, beautiful architecture, lots to see.)
4. i spent a week in the canaries relaxing on the beach, taking long walks and wading into the gentle ocean. it’s my recommendation for you for apr/may if you enjoy beaches/nature.
I have to say I agree with Heather. Go to the islands.. I’ve never been there, but it would be my choice. Nice and relaxing.. and a great time to enjoy it!
Selfishly (because I wish I were going to the beach, I say go to the Canary Islands. Plus, it could be super relaxing for you– as long as you don’t mind your belly on the beach!
P.S. Pictures are a must, so I can live vicariously through you!
My hunch is with Karlsbad, because the Czech Republic is so close and will be so exotic at the same time. And good, stodgy food.
Hmmm… I’m a bit freaked out about flying, although I’m sure it would be perfectly safe, so I’m leaning more towards Karlsbad (although the Canary Islands would be perfect – if they didn’t require air travel).
Heather – thanks for the tip on Barcelona, I don’t feel bad skipping it this time round then!
All of them sound great. I would go somewhere warm, for sure.
I flew to Germany from the U.S. when I was 30 weeks, so I can understand your anxiety about flying. It was not the most comfortable trip, but just a couple of weeks before, I flew from Oklahoma to Minnesota (2 hours), and it wasn’t bad at all. Do what feels right to you!
