Color me curious!

I know, I know, I need to stop using so many exclamation points in my titles. But I was just checking my website stats and found that someone at Caltech searched for my name, then made four entries onto my website. It is possible that I know someone at Caltech, so I’m very curious who could be searching for me.

Okay, it could be a coincidence and there is another Christina Geyer out there that they were looking for, but it is also possible that I might have gone to high school with this person (I went to a science & tech HS). There is also a small chance I know the person from Duke, but I’m not aware of anyone ending up at Caltech, unless they are just visiting, and then I would think there would be a low chance that they would search for me, because searching for random people from your past is an “I’m seriously bored and need something to do” pastime, and it’s difficult (but not impossible) to get that bored when visiting. Anyways, I checked a couple department lists for faculty and postdocs, but didn’t find any familiar names – I seriously doubt I would know any undergrads.

Oh well, I will probably never know. They will join the unknown ranks of people who visit my sites after googling my name, which also recently included people whose ISPs are located in Munich, Houston, and Colorado.

I recently did a search for Mark Glaeser but didn’t find anything. He was a good friend of mine in HS who I lost touch with once we went off to college; he went off to VaTech with the rest of my friends. We were in band together -he played french horn- and he was my Geoscience lab partner (was he also on the track team with me? I have some vague idea that he might have been a runner – or did he do crew? I think maybe that’s it). I think his favorite hobby was cracking his knuckles and neck. One day senior year, the two of us skipped school and drove down to King’s Dominion in his Miata for a day of roller coaster fun. I found out at the last reunion that he committed suicide at some point.

There are so many sad losses. Another guy I occasionally spent time with was Sean Bryant. I wouldn’t necessarily say he was a friend of mine, but he was at least a good acquaintance. He was the president of our senior class and hung himself shortly before he would have graduated from UVA. He was just about the nicest guy I knew. And then there’s Paul Knowles. He played the tuba and was a year ahead of me. We’d joke around a lot together on band trips. He died in a motorcycle accident shortly after high school.

Okay, enough with the depressing flashbacks, anyone else been doing any googling?

Jeff, Mark and Mark Glaeser
I don’t remember the names of the other two guys (sorry guys! but, the back of the photo says, “Jeff, Mark & Mark”) . This is 10th grade Chemistry class. Hmmm… was Mark also my Chemistry lab partner? I can’t remember, but it is very possible. I do remember that Brian Stearns and Jeff Lofgren were in that class and were always cutting up (Mr. Shortridge was the instructor).

Yes, some people search for the oddest things…

I’ll admit to googling ex-boyfriends, myself, and my husband – not necessarily in that order. I’ve never found any exes online, which is probably a good thing!

Sometimes the term googling just sounds so dirty, like, “I googled myself all day today” or “I’m googling myself RIGHT NOW!” :-D

Disclosure: The above statements are examples and do not in any way describe Christina’s behaviors today.

I’ve never found anything out about exes either. As well as not being Christina-worthy, they are also apparently not web-worthy. ;-)

Can you tell I’m currently functioning on a lack of sleep and food (and after three hours of Funny Farm-see next post)?

Far left one is Jeff Raubitschek (sp?) who also went to VA Tech, along with that guy Kyle that he used to hang out with. I ran into them around campus a few times.

I recognize the one in the middle but can’t come up with the last name. I knew Mark Glaeser fairly well too and remember sort of coming to a complete stop for a couple hours when I heard the news. I never really got any details, but one other thing I remember is how close he was with his hs gf, and people used to say “man if they ever break up they’ll like, die.” …yeah.

Damn people look young in those old pics!

Yeah, my first thoughts were that something must have happened with his girlfriend. He was completely devoted to her.
