Czech Republic won 3:0, dominating the USA every step of the way. Now the USA pretty much needs to beat Italy to advance to the next round. Italy plays Ghana in 20 minutes, we’ll see how they look, but it appears that the chances of the US advancing are now slim. Rainer says I’m a bad fan and should always believe that my team can win it all. Maybe I am a bad fan, but I’m too much of a realist to think the USA could win the World Cup, especially after tonight’s game.
Now I must wonder, do I really want to go to the Berlin Fan Fest to watch the USA v. Italy game with Rainer’s Italian colleague? I’m not sure I could handle all the taunting, but I have till Saturday to decide. What a depressing night this has turned out to be. I really had hopes that the USA would do well.
