Work is over!!!
Tomorrow is my official last day of work, but I haven’t been working anyway because of my back. I baked some goodies (white chocolate cherry cake, dark chocolate espresso cake, brownies, orange bars, fruit and cream cheese tart, and Christina bars - which are basically rice krispy treats with various random stuff substituted for the rice krispies) and brought them in on Friday and everybody seemed to enjoy it. I had to bake another cake last night because… Rainer turns 39 today! I made him a white cake with ricotta and cognac cream filling and chocolate ganache with cognac on the outside. If it wasn’t such a pain to own or work in a restaurant, I would consider being a pastry chef.
One of the FunTrivia editors wrote me that I’m a gifted quizwriter (yay!) but I had to make a couple of the questions on my most recently submitted quiz more difficult to get it accepted, so, stay tuned.

iTunes & books
Well, my upstairs neighbors (the cigarette people) were blasting music, so I couldn’t sleep, therefore I decided to organize my CDs on iTunes. I had already loaded my CDs in (providing 12.3 days of continuous music). I went through and picked my absolute favorite songs and… 430 songs! I find this shocking. Another thing I realized, I like REM a lot. I never really considered them a “Favorite” band. I liked them… but they got a lot of songs on my favorites list.
Ehhh… what else…
RECENTLY READ BOOK REVIEWS:
Just finished “The Messiah Code”. Actually was pretty good. Much better than “DaVinci Code”. It’s about this nobel prize winning geneticists search for a cure for cancer. He decides to try to find a sample of the blood of Christ to see if it has healing properties. It’s not as cheesy as it sounds.
“The Screwtape Letters” gave me a lot to think about. It’s letters from a senior demon to his nephew, a new recruit, on how to corrupt a man’s soul. Makes ya think about what it means to be a good person. And it’s a really fast read.
You’ve probably seen “Relic”, well I also just finished the book. Pretty good. About a creature in the basement of the New York Museum of Natural History killing people. I also read the sequel “Reliquary”, where mutant homeless are settling in the tunnels under Manhattan and killing people. Not as good. These writers have something against scientists I think.
Hmmm… what to read next. This is a difficult question.
Cwazy Wabbits
The other day, Franklin stole a piece of Melba toast out of the cabinet while I had it open. Tonight, he stole the whole package. I had to laugh before retrieving it. Imagine a big white bunny proudly dragging a large bag of Melba toast to his cage.
I still wonder how, years ago, Grumpy managed to carry a peach from a fruit bowl on my desk and deposit it half eaten under the kitchen table. He’s a little bunny and peaches are heavy. Was probably also a hilarious site.
Rainer also informed me that over the weekend, Franklin filled his food bowl with an inch of pee. Not sure what message this was supposed to send. Rainer is threatening that if Franklin does it again, he will just pour the pellets into the pee.
Neurosurgeon
Went to see the neurosurgeon again today. He says if I get worse, basically the only option is surgery. I need to lose weight and exercise. I’ve started on both. Today I did yoga and tomorrow I have physical therapy. He’d like to send me to a rehab clinic, which is cool with me. I think that would be helpful.
We need to start looking for apartments in Berlin soon. Hopefully we can get one with a garden.
I’m getting a dog for my birthday! Well, we’re calling the breeder on my birthday, so I’m not getting the actual dog then.

Here comes China
Today it was announced that Chinese GDP had surpassed the US. China is consuming more than the United States now, but per capita consumption is still FAR below that of the US. What does that mean? Chinese consumption is just going to go up up and up. US: Sole economic superpower? Not for long.
It is also the last stand of white America. According to current projections, by 2050 there will be no majority ethnic groups in the US. So, the minorities will be the majority. Asians are the fastest growing group, closely followed by Hispanics.
I’m working on a general trivia quiz for Funtrivia now with the theme of “a day in my life”. I will probably submit it today or tomorrow. All I need to do is proofread it.
My back is finally doing better. I’m doing back exercises three times a week with the physical therapist and everyday I’m doing some on my own.
Just a little over a week till my last day at work. I’ve decided my job after that will be training the puppy we’re getting and learning Thai. I’m half-Thai, I ought to speak the language. I’m going to be a Renaissance woman now and spend my days learning.
