Back from the dead
Well, my back has finally started feeling better after several weeks of serious pain. There was one day I was trying to look at my elbow and the most intense pain I have ever felt in my life surged through my back. It was like someone stuck a knife in my spine then twisted it. I was actually screaming. And by the way, in case you ever wondered, spending a month on your back sucks to no end. At least when I had pneumonia and appendicitis I could sleep all day. With back pain you’re wide awake and can only read or watch tv. But today I stopped taking pain meds and all seems to be well so far.
By the way, if you like action/sci-fi flics, check out Equilibrium. I had never heard of it, but saw it on cable here and it was awesome. Definitely underrated. It’s the future after a third world war and it has been decided that the emotional highs and lows must be cut off in order to stop the human race from destroying itself. Christian Bale plays a Grammaton Cleric, whose job it is to find and execute “sense offenders,” people who do not take the mandatory sense numbing drugs. The acting is good (I’m so into Sean Bean, wish he had a bigger role), and the action sequences are incredible. At first I thought of it as a Matrix rip off, but after repeated viewings, I’m starting to think it’s the better movie.
